What the upgrade actually changes

Claire is the first hero in the game with a Rarity Upgrade path, and it opens on Era Day 8. SSR Claire becomes UR Claire: same Warrior faction, same Carry class, the same five skills wearing "Adv." in front of their names. What changes is every number behind them.

It does not send her back to the start. A rarity-upgraded hero lands at 6 — thirty of the fifty substages on the hero star track are already behind her — and climbs from there to the 10 cap. It also does not change what she eats: the converted UR still takes SSR Claire shards, not UR shards.

What it changes is the price. Every substage on the rarity-upgrade track costs exactly twice its SSR equivalent, so the run from 6 to 10 is 1,600 shards where the same four stars on an SSR hero would be 800.

She stops being just a buff

The upgrade's real effect is on her own output. At equal skill levels, testing puts a 9 UR Claire at roughly 1.70x the personal damage of the maxed SSR she came from, and a 10 at around 2.20x. How hard that lands depends on what you are hitting and how its stats compare to yours, but the direction is not in question.

Very little of it comes from her skill tiers. It comes from her attack stat, which the rarity upgrade raises by more than four stars ever could. Her support slot doubles too, once she reaches 8: SSR Tenacity is +10% ATK, HP and DEF, while Adv. Tenacity is +20% and adds 10% skill cooldown speed the SSR version never had.

That changes what she is for. SSR Claire was a hero you fielded so that other heroes hit harder. UR Claire buffs those same heroes and hits hard herself — she stops being a tax on the line-up and starts being a member of it.

The team buff dips first

There is one catch, and it is worth understanding before you commit. Call of the Brave — the passive that makes the three highest-ATK Warriors on your team deal more damage to monsters — does not carry your progress across. It reads off the new UR track from the star you land on:

Call of the Brave, base value at each tier's unlock star. Both rarities add the same +0.2% per skill level.
StarSSR ClaireUR Claire
08%8%
49.6%10%
912%14%
1016%22%

The upgrade drops you at 6, which still sits on the 4 tier, so the buff goes from the 16% a maxed SSR was giving your team to 10%. On paper that is a six-point cut. In practice her own damage climbs at the same instant, so what the team actually loses on day one is a couple of percent — and if you already carry a lot of monster damage from gear and research, less than that. It is a dip, not a hole.

9 is where she pulls ahead

9 is the star that matters. The passive reaches 14%, still two points under the maxed SSR, but she is now doing something like 1.70x her old damage and that is not a close trade. Your monster teams are meaningfully ahead of where they were, buff shortfall included. It is also where Adv. Rain of Arrows reaches its top tier, which is where much of the jump comes from.

10 settles the rest. The passive climbs to 22%, well past anything the SSR could reach, and her personal damage lands near 2.20x. There is no reading of the comparison where a 10 UR Claire is not the better hero.

The cost is weighted towards the end. 6 to 9 is 1,000 shards; 9 to 10 is another 600 on its own, so the last star alone is well over a third of the run.

There is a way to skip the wait entirely. Hall of Honor level pays out in her shards when the rarity upgrade lands, and Lv.160 covers the full 1,600. Take her there before you convert her and she arrives at 6 with the whole run already banked — straight through to 10, with no dip at all.

In PvP it is not close

Everything above is about monsters, because that is where Call of the Brave points. PvP is a separate question and the answer is simpler: if you do not have a full UR line-up, this is one of the biggest single upgrades available to you.

The damage is the obvious half. Adv. Tenacity is the other — +20% ATK, HP and DEF plus 10% skill cooldown speed, where the SSR version gave a flat +10% and no cooldown at all. It does not arrive with the conversion, though. The support slot unlocks at 8 and you land at 6, so for the first two stars she carries no support skill at all, where a maxed SSR Claire had one.

That makes 8 the milestone to aim at if she is in your PvP team, and it is the cheap one: 600 shards from where the upgrade drops you, or Hall of Honor Lv.60 banked before you convert. A UR Claire with Adv. Tenacity standing in a roster of SSRs is a real step up in a mode where every slot is contested.

If you are a spender with a finished UR line-up, none of this reaches you. She is not displacing anyone in your PvP team, and the upgrade goes back to being a monster-damage decision.

So should you pull it?

Yes — the only real question is timing. It is a large improvement in both modes: huge in PvP if your bench is thin, and huge against monsters for a reason that is easy to miss. Instead of only buffing the heroes you care about, she contributes real damage while still buffing them.

The caveat is the dip. Between 6 and 9 your monster teams run slightly behind where a maxed SSR Claire had them. It is a couple of percent rather than a catastrophe, but it is real, and it lasts until you find the shards.

So the advice is about order, not whether. Hall of Honor level converts straight into the climb, and the milestones are cheaper than the full run: Lv.60 covers 8 and hands Adv. Tenacity back, which is the one a PvP roster wants; Lv.100 covers 9, where her monster teams are already ahead; Lv.160 covers all of it and there is no dip at all. Bank what you can before you convert, then convert her regardless — you are trading a small, temporary loss for a permanently better hero.
